***SOLD *** Hand crafted necklace made of real ivory (purchased by my aunt in the late
sixties) and Red Jasper Stone. The beads
are 4mm in size. The design is my
personal pattern. I wanted to honor the animal who contributed the ivory. Red
Jasper is the stone of “Fairness and Justice” because its energy is used to
decrease injustice and help in unfair situations. I thought it was suitable to heighten the injustice
unethical collection of ivory. This
handmade necklace uses a Bronze clasp designed by Kim Fox and can be found at
www.handfast.biz.
Length: 18"
Materials:
- Red Jasper Stone
- Ivory beads
- Bronze bead caps
- Bronze toggle clasp
Necklace:
This handmade necklace is crocheted with ivory and red jasper stone. The Bronze toggle clasp can be worn in front
or back.
Care and
cleaning:
Wipe necklace with a soft cloth. I do not recommend chemical cleaning
because it may discolor the beads and destroy the value. Ivory will darken over time and is an
indicator of its age.
About
Bead Crochet:
Seed bead crochet is labor intensive, dating back to the early 1820’s.
Each tiny bead is touched 3 times to build the spiral rope.
First
touch: All beads are strung onto the cord in a predetermined pattern.
Second
touch: Crochet the first row of beads, adding one bead with each stitch and
determines the diameter of the rope.
Third
touch: The subsequent rows are crocheted into each stitch of the previous row
adding one new bead while flipping the previous bead to the side.
Disclaimer:
This item is made in the USA, not all the materials used are NOT made in
the USA (If you know of a US source for seed beads and nylon thread please
message me as I have not been able to find them). Although this jewelry did not
originate on Kauai, my heart returns to the Garden Island with fond memories.
