Hand crafted necklace made of Czech glass seed beads. Hand crafted in the Aboriginal dot style, although using black and white takes away the aboriginal effect. The seed beads are 2mm and 4mm. The smaller beads graduating to the larger beads cause a swirl appearance on each side. There is no clasp.

• No clasp, therefore no metal.
  

 

 

Necklace:

I designed this necklace as an experiment using different size beads but keeping the same pattern. Love the swirl effect.

 

Care and cleaning:

Hand wash necklace using household dish soap and water. Lay flat to dry overnight. I do not recommend chemical cleaning because it may discolor the beads. Use a soft cotton cloth to enhance the sparkle.

 

About Bead Crochet:

Seed bead crochet is labor intensive, dating back to the early 1820’s. Each tiny bead is touched 3 times to build the spiral rope.

First touch: All beads are strung onto the cord in a predetermined pattern.

Second touch: Crochet the first row of beads, adding one bead with each stitch and determines the diameter of the rope.

Third touch: The subsequent rows are crocheted into each stitch of the previous row adding one new bead while flipping the previous bead to the side.
